Onsite Walt Disney World Resorts
With over two dozen onsite Resort Hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, it can be difficult to pick the right one for your family. Fortunately, we’re launching a series of blog posts to help you out! Today, we start with an overview of the different categories of onsite Walt Disney World Resorts: Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts, Deluxe Resorts, and Deluxe Villa Resorts.
First, Value Resorts. These Resorts are farther from the theme parks, and they are more crowded. They are very spread out, which means that guests have to walk farther to and from their rooms. Pools at the Value Resorts do not have slides, and rooms at Value Resorts are the tiniest of the bunch. While Value Resorts do not have sit-down restaurants, there are large food courts with a wide variety of options. Bottom Line: although Value Resorts do not have as many amenities as the Resorts in other categories, they are the most budget-friendly option. And like all Disney Resorts, they are clean and safe.
Second, Moderate Resorts. These Resorts feature beautifully landscaped grounds and offer more activities than Value Resorts. Moderate Resorts also have both sit-down restaurants and food courts. The rooms are a little larger than those at the Value Resorts, and the pools at Moderate Resorts are intricately themed with fun slides. Bottom Line: considering that the price difference between Value and Moderate Resorts is comparatively small, we find Moderate Resorts to be an excellent value.
Third, Deluxe Resorts. Located close to at least one theme park, these Resorts are the ultimate in convenience. Each Deluxe Resort boasts MULTIPLE sit-down restaurants (including some award-winning ones) AND food courts. Deluxe Resorts also have the most spacious rooms on property, many with private balconies and stunning views. Featuring exquisite lobbies and extensive concierge services, Deluxe Resorts are truly luxurious. Bottom Line: While Deluxe Resorts come in at a higher price point than Value or Moderate Resorts, they offer an unforgettable lodging experience with a wide range of amenities.
Fourth, Deluxe Villa Resorts. Ranging from 4-person Studios to 3-bedroom Grand Villas, these Resorts offer an option to fit any group’s needs. Most Villas (except for the Studios) come with a full kitchen, a living area, a dining area, and a washer/dryer. Best of all: even though your Villa will feel like home, you’ll be right in the heart of the Disney action, and you’ll have access to plenty of amenities including themed pools and incredible dining options. Bottom Line: These Resorts are the perfect solution for larger groups or for families who prefer a “home away from home” atmosphere.
Finally, a discussion of the onsite Walt Disney World Resorts wouldn’t be complete without a nod to the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Fort Wilderness offers sites for tent camping and RV camping, as well as fully-appointed cabins. You’ll also have access to fun pools, tons of activities (including a character BBQ and a nightly sing-a-long with Chip & Dale), and tremendous dining options. Bottom Line: Reasonably priced, the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is a great option for budget-conscious, outdoor-loving families.
